Marlin XL7 Rifle Review The Marlin Firearms Company has been around for well over |
a century. During that time they have made many firearms, but they are best known for their lever action rifles. Several million were produced, which is comparable to Winchester and Savage, their main competition. The Marlin has a well deserved reputation for quality and durability. I have several in my collection and they all shoot well. A couple of them will give the average bolt action a run for their money in the accuracy department. Teaching a New Person to Shoot a Handgun
Many people have never shot a handgun for a verity of reasons from bad media coverage to just never having anyone to teach them how. They don’t realize how much fun it is and if taught properly can master it in 
a relatively short period of time. Proper instruction is vitally important for a new shooter. I have taught quite a few people how to shoot and I prefer a 38 or sometimes a 357 magnum revolver. There are a lot of reasons that I like the 38 for training some new to the sport. Read more
Mauser Rifles
The 11 mm Mauser
One of the earliest bolt action military rifles and of course the forunner of many great Mauser rifles to follow it was designed by the Mauser brothers. The model 71 was the beginning of a long and successful line of rifles. Designed by Paul Mauser and chambered for the hard hitting 11 X 60 cartridge it was originally a single shot. Later on it was modified with a tubular magazine and called the 71/84 and made until the 8 X 57 Commission Rifle officially replaced it in 1888. Like many of the black powder rifles of that period reserve units used it for years after it was replaced by newer weaponry. Read more
